Join Us Today
We are a body of Christ followers who believe the Word of God. We strive to carry on our rich church history by serving and sharing Jesus in today’s world. We are a friendly and engaging church that places our hope in Christ alone for our salvation. We invite you to come and worship the Risen Christ with us.
1 Corinthians 1:9
God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ or Lord.

gaugler home
where hope church began
Humble Beginnings… The story of a church’s life is largely that of her members the buildings in which they have worshiped God together. The home of Samuel and Susanna Gaugler on Cory Ave in Akron, is where Hope Church began and is still in use today.
1855
the first church building
A Sunday School, the result of a revival, was opened in the spring of 1855. Benjamin Stall was the first superintendent and prayed this prayer in the first year. “May God permit his further blessings to rest upon this Sunday School.”
1855-1955
centennial anniversary
As the area around Hope changed from a farm culture to a post war intercity neighborhood, Hope celebrated its 100th birthday preparing to move to make room for the growing congregation.

The new
church
Hope celebrates its association with the newly formed Global Methodist Church. A church dedicated “to bringing new life, reconciliation, and the presence of Christ to all people,” and reflect the character of Christ in our walk together.
